THE TOURNAMENT

The European Tour and Paul Lawrie, the two-time Ryder Cup player and Scotland’s most recent Major Champion, have produced an event which will be part of The Race to Dubai for the next two years. The Aberdeen Asset Management Paul Lawrie Match Play will take place at Archerfield Links Golf Club, East Lothian, Scotland, from 4th – 7th August, 2016. This year’s event is the second edition of the tournament, having been played first time around at Murcar Links in 2015 and won by Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

With a prize fund of €1million, it will pit 64 of the leading players on The Race to Dubai against each other in a straight knock out, match play contest. Lawrie will be the tournament host, with 4SPORTS & Entertainment promoting the event.

THE VENUE

Archerfield is a magnificent estate situated between Muirfield and North Berwick in picturesque East Lothian, Scotland’s Golf Coast. With Grade I listed Archerfield House lying at its heart, the land affords magnificent views of Fidra Island and the Fife coastline beyond. With its distinctive lighthouse and whitewashed stonework, it comes as little surprise that Fidra was the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous book, Treasure Island.
